Mostly self-taught as an artist, she did spend time studying with Budd Hopkins, Frank Lee, Eugene Sparks, and Morris Davidson.

Parris received grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Vermont Studio Center (twice).  She has had numerous exhibitions on Cape Cod since 1965.
