This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted June 2004, is from the artist

I was born in Orlando, Florida into a military family. My father was in the U.S. Air Force, and we lived in Arizona, Texas, Idaho, and Alaska. I took art classes from the eighth grade through high school, but upon graduation I was torn between my art and the vocational call to Nursing. I went on to become a Registered Nurse and worked many years in the operating room in intensive care and orthopedics. In 1989, I joined the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps as a Lieutenant and completed my eight- year commitment, having served in Operation Desert Storm.

In 1995,I began an intensive study into Fine Art, visiting many art museums and galleries across the country, and taking many workshops and classes, applying what I learned to canvas. In 1999, my twin sister, Connie Watts, and I began painting with the Plein-Air Artists of Alabama, which was founded by John Adkins, Russell Scruggs, and the Austin brothers, Perry and Steve. My husband, Donn, and I live in rural Sylacauga, Alabama, and we have three daughters, now grown, Tracy, Michelle, and Julie.

I paint what I love: old cars, old boats, barns, and Southern landscapes. My twin sister, Connie Watts, and I can be seen painting in scenic areas across the Southeast. I am dedicated to the traditional "en plein air" experience by completing them on site. I love the way the finished paintings seem to be so full of energy and light. I paint what I feel with bold strokes of color and sometimes thick strokes of texture. My paintings reflect a captured moment in time, a mood filtered through my senses to the canvas. I am a colorist. My paintings are somewhat impressionistic with traces of abstract nuances. I continue to enjoy studio paintings, occasionally painting still-life and figures.
