| | Born in Iowa on May 31, 1859. Pew came to California with his parents a few months after his birth. While living in San Francisco, he was active as a portraitist from the 1880s until 1902 when he moved north to Colfax in Placer County. He died there on Feb. 28, 1922. | Source:
