This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in New Mexico on Nov. 13, 1899. Plumb studied journalism at the University of Missouri. A self-taught cartoonist, his only training consisted of correspondence courses. By 1925 he had settled in Pasadena. For many years he was on the art staff of the Los Angeles Times as the originator of "Ella Cinders." By 1940 the strip had been turned over to Fred Fox and others. After that time Plumb lived in Mexico until retiring to Ashland, OR where he remained until his death in January 1982. Exh: Cartoonist Club (LA), 1928.
