Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Clara Perry was a landscape and figure painter in oil and pastel and a sculptor of figures in realist style.
She studied with Robert Henri and at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School with Edmund Tarbell and Frank Benson. She spent much time in France, spending her summers at Haute Loire, and exhibiting at the Beaux- Arts Salon. She traveled to many European countries, using local subject matter for her paintings of scenes of every day life.
