Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 26, 1882, Clara Pfeifer Garrett was a student at the St Louis School of Fine Arts under R. P. Bringhurst (1893-97). Continuing in Paris, she studied with Mercié and Bourdelle at Ecole des Beaux Arts.
From 1902 until 1915 she was based in St Louis, MO except for 1907 when she was in NYC. At that time she was the wife of Edmund Garrett.
By 1929 she had moved to Beverly Hills, CA where she was active until 1941.
