Edmondo Pizzella was born in Naples, Italy on March 27, 1868. Pizzella came to San Francisco from Italy shortly after the turn of the century and became popular as a portraitist of local society women. He maintained a studio in the City of Paris department store and a residence at 1600 Clay Street. For several years in the 1920s and early 1930s he had a studio in New York City. He died in San Francisco on Nov. 6, 1941.
