| Painter, muralist. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on Oct. 17, 1885. Petersen served an art apprenticeship in his native city. A scholarship from the Danish Goverment allowed him to study art for several years in Paris, Rome, and Munich. He immigrated to America in 1912 and worked his way across country painting decorative panels in Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington before settling in Los Angeles in 1916.
