This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Berkeley, CA on Oct. 12, 1886, the daughter of Emma McHenry and Admiral Charles Fremont Pond. The Ponds were close friends and neighbors of the Wm Keith family in Berkeley. Keith was held in such great esteem by the Ponds that they named their daughter in his honor. Bessie, as Keith called her, was one of Keith's most intimate little friends. At age seven she began sketching for him and remained his pupil until his death in 1911. She later spent many years compiling and arranging the voluminous Keith miscellany now held in the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley. Her home in Berkeley was at 2071 Ridge Road where she died on Sept. 6, 1955.
