| Born in Berkeley, CA on Oct. 12, 1886, the daughter of Emma McHenry and Admiral Charles Fremont Pond. The Ponds were close friends and neighbors of the Wm Keith family in Berkeley. Keith was held in such great esteem by the Ponds that they named their daughter in his honor. Bessie, as Keith called her, was one of Keith's most intimate little friends. At age seven she began sketching for him and remained his pupil until his death in 1911. She later spent many years compiling and arranging th (showing 500 of 974 characters). |
