| Born in Rochester, NY on June 4, 1836. In 1869 Emma married F. M. Pixley in San Francisco. She studied locally at the School of Design under Irwin, Mathews, and Sparks, and at the Cooper Union in NYC. Most of her life was spent in San Francisco except for periods in Marin County, CA and Seattle. Mrs. Pixley specialized in Chinatown genre, landscapes of Marin County, and mission scenes.
