An artist of the Dutch school, Evert Pieters typically painted genre
scenes, portraits, nudes, interiors, landscapes, and seascapes.
In his reference book Dictionary of Belgian Painters Born Between 1750 & 1875,
art historian Berko writes: [Pieters’] "paintings, tinged with slightly
melancholic realism, are full of calm and serene feeling.”
In addition to being a very skilled artist in oils, he was also an
accomplished draftsman and engraver. First (showing 500 of 1357 characters). |
