Gary Pettigrew, born 1935, received an Individual Artist Grant from the Ohio Arts Council in 1997. Numerous exhibitions include the Hassam Fund Exhibition at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City; "More Than Land or Sky: Art From Appalachia" at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC (traveled); and "Realism More and Less" at The Southern Museum in Portsmouth, Ohio and the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, in 1998.
