| Gertrude Paulus was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1893. Gertrude was the daughter of artist Daniel C. Paulus. By 1915 she was living in Los Angeles and studied there at the School of Art & Design and in Germany. From the 1920s until 1941 she worked in Los Angeles as a commercial artist and taught at Frank Wiggins Trade School. At the onset of World War Two, she is believed to have returned to Germany.
