| Grant J. Powers was born in Philadelphia in 1899 and died in New
Hampshire in 1978. He was the son of William J. Powers and
Catherine Macdonald Powers. His parents were from Antigonish,
Nova Scotia and came to Philadelphia in the mid 1880's. He was
the sixth child of eight. His father was involved in real estate
in Philadelphia.
He served in both WWI and WWII. Most noted for the illustrations
he did at Bikini Atoll in WWII in the Pacific, he did illustrations
that can be found on the Naval Archives website.
