Guy Palazzola was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1919. He was a student in the school of the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts, working with the late John Carroll and Sarkis Sarkisian. He later joined the faculty of this school and subsequently became its Assistant Director. In 1957 Palazzola went to the University of Michigan as a member of the faculty of the college of Architecture and Design.
In addition to the many times Palazzola's work has been shown in this area, in our museum and in local galleries, his work was included in the New Talent USA exhibition circulated by the American Federation of Arts, 1957-1958; in the 60th Annual Exhibition of American Art at the Art Institute of Chicago, 1951; and in the New Accessions USA exhibition at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in 1950. His work was also included in the Biennial of American Painting and Sculpture at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts 1968, 1959-1960.
