| Painter. Born in New York on Dec. 12, 1856. By 1880 Peelor had settled in San Jose, CA and spent the remainder of his life there. His mother, Louisa Peelor Curtis, taught him to paint. He earned his living as a sign painter and as a pastryman in a local bakery. He could often be seen sporting a straw skimmer and cigar, and riding his bicycle through town with his painting gear in the basket on the handlebars. His oils were primitive in style and his subjects were mostly towns around the San Jose (showing 500 of 764 characters). |
