| A painter of horses, usually in high action in landscape, J.F. Policky
has much familiarity with his subject matter, having grown up in the
Nebraska Sandhills in a small town named Broadwater. His
parents had a ranch, where he and his seven brothers and sisters spent
much time, and it was an era when town businesses still had tie rails
for horses. Laughingly he said: "It wasn't uncommon to see horses
tied up behind the bar until 3 in the morning." Policky also was
