| | Born in the Ukraine of Russia, Jacob Pell spent the first part of his painting career, 1913 to 1931, in New York and the second part in Marlboro, Connecticut, 1931 to 1955. In New York, he studied at the National Academy of Design with Leon Kroll and at the Art Students League with John Sloan. From 1929 to 1931, he painted in Paris and then returned to New York City where he was a WPA muralist. |
