Sculptor. Born in Tientsin, China on Oct. 17, 1883, the son of medical
missionaries. Porter graduated from Beloit Academy in Wisconsin. After
moving to La Mesa, CA in 1904, he obtained a B.A. degree from Pomona
College (1914). He further studied at the ASL in NYC under
Bridgman and Aitken, and at Columbia University while working in the
Connecticut studio of Gutzon Borglum.
As well as a sculptor of portrait busts, he was owner of Brown
Manufacturing Company in La Mesa whe (showing 500 of 908 characters). |
