Raised in Fairfax, Marin County, James Perry developed a love of art
from childhood when his parents collected early 20th-Century California
painters. He graduated with Distinction in 1980 from the
California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.
The scenery
of Marin County, California is a frequent subject of his paintings
because they make him feel peaceful and challenge him technically
because of the compressing of space into a small scale.
