JoAnn Peralta, painter and illustrator, attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California for four years. There she met her future husband, artist Morgan Weistling.
Following art school, Peralta began a career as an illustrator. Her paintings were reproduced on book covers, video boxes and magazines. Then she was faced with the decision to put her career on hold as she found herself expecting their first child, Brittany.
