Active as an artist in his native Pennsylvania for all his life, John Peirce captured local landscapes and landmarks in his work. Additionally, he created portraits of well-known local figures and murals for local hotels.
He was born in Spring City, and graduated from the Philadelphia School of Industrial Art. Peirce also attended the School of the Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as the summer academy at Chester Springs.
