A painter and teacher from San Marcos, Texas, Kate Pitts was head of the drawing department at Southwest Texas Normal School in San marcos from 1916 to 1919. She studied at the Prang School of Art in Chicago, the Chicago School of Applied Arts, and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.
