Biography from Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden:
Born February 24, 1974, Kelly Porter is originally from Dallas, Texas.  She studied printmaking and philosophy at the Kansas City Art Institute and earned a full scholarship and a Master’s degree from the State University of New York in Buffalo.  In her intuitive work, she mixes painting and drawing with traditional printmaking techniques to create a special aesthetic.  Many of  her works are influenced by classical and jazz music, as she focuses on the space between the notes and the phenomenon of our existence.  She also uses life at the cellular level as subject matter, and many times this is intermixed with unusual cellular-like flowers, trees and birds.
