| Leona Pierce was born in Santa Barbara, CA on January 28, 1921. Pierce studied in New York at the Art Students League and with Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Stuart Davis. About 1951 she wed artist Antonio Frasconi and settled in Norwalk, CT where she remained until her demise on February 12, 2002. She is best known for her color woodcuts of children at play. Along with her husband’s, her woodcuts will be shown at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk in December 2010.
