 “After going to Paris to study at the École des Arts-Déco, he returned to Cannes, his hometown, for its luminous sunshine and painted many fine landscapes and seascapes. His work on light earned the nickname of “Lou pintre dou soulèu” (‘painter of the sun’ in Provençal). In 1902 he founded the Association des Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts Association) of Cannes”.
