This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in La Seyne, France on June 16, 1906. Perona immigrated to California with his family in 1910. Upon graduation from Los Gatos High School in 1921, he entered the CSFA where he was a pupil of the Mackys, Ray Boynton, Ralph Stackpole, and Gertrude Albright. Following one year at the ASL in NYC, he worked for the Disney Studios in Hollywood in 1930-31 and then for the San Francisco Call Bulletin while living across the bay in Sausalito. At the end of prohibition, he became advertising director for Italian Swiss Colony wines and continued in that capacity until transfering to Nat'l Distillers in the East. In 1946 he moved to New Jersey where he remained until his death in Bernardsville on May 17, 1971. Exh: SFAA, 1928; Explorer Gallery (NYC), 1962 (solo).
