| Born in Chenango, TX on Aug. 28, 1891. Payne studied at Newcomb College (New Orleans) and the AIC. She settled in Houston, TX in 1919; however, during the early 1930s she lived in Sacramento and was active in the local art scene. She died in Houston in October 1976.
