| Margaret P. Postlethwaite was born in New Zealand on February 17, 1884. While in San Francisco in 1897-1901, Postlethwaite studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. She wed Thomas B. Dean in 1911 and settled on a farm in Walnut Creek, CA. She died in San Francisco on November 29, 1968.
