| Born in Natick, Massachusetts, she attended the Walnut Hill School in Natick. She graduated from Smith College and earned a teaching certificate from the Massachusetts Normal Art School in 1908. She attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts from 1909 to 1913 and in 1915 took a studio at Grundmann Studios, a facility for women. In 1917, she moved to Fenway Studios. She taught painting at the Walnut Hill School and the Abbott Academy in Andover. In 1919, she traveled to France to help with the war effort. In 1923, she married Bernard Duits, an art connoisseur and dealer. They settled in Paris. |
