Mark Planisek was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio in 1959.  He has lived in Washington, D.C. since 1982.  Planisek was schooled traditionally in drawing and painting, but it was the camera and its ability to mirror life that captivated his interest.  He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers.

Planisek's  work was accepted into the Florence Biennale in December, 2007.  He was one of the highlighted artists at "The Creative Life," an (showing 500 of 4189 characters).
