| An impressionist landscape painter in watercolor, oil and acrylics,
Mary Ann Pope works primarily from photographs she takes of scenes
around Huntsville, Alabama, especially forest interiors deep in the
woods near her home. Many of her locations are in remote areas
where it is inconvenient to set up an easel for plein-air
painting. Her approach to painting is to study nature closely,
and then "simplify its forms, and caputre its appearance with
controlled applications" of pain (showing 500 of 1102 characters). |
