Matthew Placzek's detailed, colored sculptures are carved from blocks of Jelutong, soft Malaysian wood, and their realism gives them the appearance of being taxidermy mounts. He is a native of Nebraska where he was born in Columbus and raised in Grand Island. He studied and carved wild fowl along the Platte River. Collectors include former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush.
