The following information was submitted in June of 2006 by the artist:
"I remember drawing
obsessively from an early age, mostly pictures of birds and other wildlife. During my formative years, my family lived
in the middle of a remote, densely forested bird sanctuary in Massachusetts,
which may account for my lifelong interest in the metaphoric potential of
flight.
In 1986, I moved to the Los
Angeles area, after graduating with a mathematics degree from Pomona College in
Claremont. Inspired by a single drawing
class taken at the end of my studies, I decided to drop all other plans and
become an artist.
My watercolors
and oil paintings combine an ironic-Romantic theme of infinite yearning with a
meticulous attention to the mundane details of the quotidian world."
