| Born in NYC on June 27, 1896. Pauline Stone grew up on the East Coast and married about 1917. After traveling to Europe, she began spending summers in southern California in 1932 and bought a house there in 1937. For several years she worked on mosaics for Millard Sheets at his Claremont studio. She was vice president of the Los Angeles Municipal Art Commission and active in the local art scene. Mrs. Polk died in Pomona, CA on Feb. 25, 1986. Working in a large format, she used transparent (showing 500 of 844 characters). |
