| Rollin Alphonse Pickford Jr. was born in Fresno, CA on May 23, 1912. Pickford was educated at Fresno State College and Stanford University. He later studied watercolor techniques with Alexander Nepote. His early works include stylized depictions of the farmlands near his home in Fresno and coastal scenes of the Monterey Peninsula. Since the 1950s he has worked in Abstract, Expressionist, and Impressionist styles. He has produced more than 12,000 watercolors as well as hundreds of oils and figure (showing 500 of 1102 characters). |
