Simmons Persons was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He studied at the Art Students League where he worked in the classes of Frank Vincent du Mond, George Bridgman and Kimon Nicolaides. During several summers he painted at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire. His watercolors have been exhibited in large group shows at the Whitney Museu (showing 500 of 755 characters).
