| Sophia Lord Pitman, born on March 2, 1855, studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School, Rhode Island School of Design, and the Art Students League under W. M. Chase, F. DuMond, J. Twachtman, J.A. Weir. She was a member of the Providence Art Club and the Providence Watercolor Club.
