Biography from AskART:
| Victoria Parsons began sculpting after her husband was relocated for
business to Colorado in 1991. She sold her equestrian center in
Columbus, Ohio and began studying wood sculpture with Jack Bayman in
Colorado.
After five years with Bayman she was ready to find her
own artistic expression. She found her inspiration in Bristlecone
pine, an ancient wood found in parks and protected as national
treasure. Her Bristlecone pine comes from a private source which
is allowed to collect the deadwood.
Parsons' wildlife designs
are often somewhat realistic and somewhat abstract depending on the
character of the wood. Her sculptures are of all types of animals
with Parsons' goal always being to showcase the beauty of the ancient
wood. She has begun sculpting in alabaster and some of her works
are cast in bronze.
