This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
The following information comes from Krzysztof Z. Polakowski, the artist's son:
My Father studied at the School of Painting under the direction of Professor Pronaszko in Warsaw, Poland in the early thirties. His specialty was portraits (especially during the Nazi occupation of Poland) and after the war - landscapes (mostly oil paintings). He was not an enthusiast of abstract art, however attempted to utilize it in so called "transformed landscapes" which became his own ways of color expression. He was influenced by Jan Cybis, and Jan Wodynski, whom he befriended.
