A landscape painter, graphics artist and muralist, William Patty was born in New Hartford, Connecticut, and by age 16, was earning a living as a painter.
He studied in New York at the National Academy of Design and at the Acadamie Julian in Paris. Among his teachers were Edgar M. WArd, Robert Brandegee, and Charles Noel Flagg.
In the 1920s, he worked in Brooklyn, although he was in San Antonio and Mexico in 1935 painting portraits. In 1936, he moved to Southern Califor (showing 500 of 1579 characters). |
