The following was submitted by the artist, April 2004.
Born in Washington DC in 1942, Jalaliyyih Quinn began painting and drawing in early childhood. She began formal studies at the age of nine, with a British Artist Doreen Penson. Always an imaginative child, she experienced something transcendent during the process of painting, and this experience has endured to the to the present.
In 1967 she met the artist James Van Dyk and moved to New York. Van Dyk challenged her to paint fro (showing 500 of 6550 characters). |
