This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Alexander Rummler settled in Glenbrook, Connecticut where he became a noted Impressionist landscape painter. He studied in Detroit, Michigan with Julius Melchers and at the Art Students League in New York City with Willard Metcalf and Kenyon Cox. In 1906, he studied at the Academie Julian in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens. During the Depression years, he did about sixteen murals for the WPA (Works Progress Administration).

He was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Silvermine Guild of Artists and exhibited at the Worlds Fair in New York in 1939.
