This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Following is a biography based on information provided to AskART by Sparrow Fine Art of Solana Beach, California:

A celebrity portraitist, Alexander Rosenfeld was born in Poland in 1905 and was educated at the Academy of Warsaw and the Academy of Art in Krakow, Poland. He was the son of noted muralist, Joseph Rosenfeld. Alexander began painting at the age of six and by the age of 21 had painted portraits of many prominent people in Poland.

He came to New York as an emissary of Polish art in 1922, and soon was painting portraits of New York and Boston's "Rich and Famous".

In 1929, the mother-in-law of studio magnate Samuel Goldwyn convinced
Rosenfeld to move to California. He settled in Los Angeles and was soon
doing specialized creative work for the motion picture industry including
mural work on classic films including "Cleopatra," "The Ten Commandments,"
"Juarez", and "Lust for Life".

His private commissions included portraits of Helen Hayes, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Errol Flynn, Bette Davis, Joan Fontaine, Sydney Greenstreet, Carolyn Jones, Vanessa Redgrave, as well as royal family members, Prince Mo-Ho-Din and Lord and Lady Cholmer Jones.

Rosenfeld died in La Quinta, California in 1995.

This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Poland on Oct. 15, 1905, the son of noted muralist Louis Rosenfeld. Raised in an artistic milieu, the younger Rosenfeld showed artistic promise at age six and later studied at the Krakow Academy of Art. Due to political unrest he emigrated from Poland to NYC in 1921. He soon was in demand as a portraitist to the local elite. In 1930 Samuel Goldwyn's mother-in-law lured him to Los Angeles where he began a long career in the motion picture industry. His sitters included Bette Davis, Helen Hayes, Errol Flynn, Katherine Hepburn, and others. In 1956 he moved to nearby La Quinta and became active in the local art colony. He died there on June 6, 1995. Murals: St Francis of Assisi Church (La Quinta); Securities Investment & Mortgage Bldg (LA).
