| A painter and art restorer, he was born April 9, 1884 in Menfi, Sicily. In 1899 his family immigrated to the U.S., settling in Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, his work garnered praise in New York for its originality and beauty, seen as an expression of the artist's spiritual imagination. Later he studied at the Art Students' League and exhibited almost annually at the Society of Independent Artists between 1927 and 1934, and 1936 and 1944. He also gained a reputation as a restorer of fine art paintings.
