This biography from the Archives of AskART:

The following information was submitted in March of 2006 John Russell and Julia Russell , friends of Mr. Raemaekers, and some family members.

Antonius Raemaekers  studied at the Académie Roy-ale Des Beaux Arts, Liege, Belgium where he received his diploma.  He earned distinction on two continents.  He was born in the Netherlands in November 1903.  After World War II, Raemaekers, his wife and six children, moved to Martinsville, Indiana in 1950.  They settled in a distinctive Victorian house on tree lined Washington St., across from the elaborate Home Lawn Mineral Springs Sanitarium that was built in 1889.

Many guests who visited the mineral water spa came to Mr. Raemaekers studio and for art lessons and often returned for more.  Consequently, many of his painting of Morgan County, Indiana are scattered throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.  Paintings by the Dutch artist are also in Holland and other European countries.

One of his most successful students was Jenness Cortez (1944 - ) who is also listed as an artist on the AskART web site.

Biography information taken from HeraldTimesOnline.com article dated 3/26/01 by Marilyn Brock about Mr. Raemaekers daughter, Hubertina Raemaekers Foley of Martinsville, IN and from a signed copy of a self prepared presentation certificate for a painting donated by Mr. Raemaekers to the Morgan County Library in Martinsville, IN. in June 1994.  The certificate includes a copy of his self portrait.
