| From Scotland, Archibald Robertson was a topological draftsman who entered the British Army in 1759 and was at the siege of of Havana in 1762. From 1775 to 1780, he was in America during the Revolutionary War as officer of the Royal Engineers and Deputy Quartermaster. In 1786, he retired and lived the remainder of his life at his estate near Comrie in Perthshire, Scotland.
A portfolio of fifty-four of his drawings of Cuba and North America between 1762 and 1780 are in the New York Public Library and were later published with his diaries.
