Bernie Hayes Robynson, dean of Black graphic artists, was born in Paris, Kentucky in 1990. His parents were teachers and their travels took Bernie to many picturesque sections of the Blue Grass state. He studied at Knoxville College, The National Academy of Art, Art Students League and Agusta Savage's Art Workshop.
Bernie was a pioneer serigraphic print makes. Of his series, A Human Melody Bernie was quoted as saying he endeavored to preserve some of the quaint, hospitable scenes in the life of people enjoying themselves in the old South a few decades ago. Bernie and his wife Alma were last known to be residing in a senior citizen development in New York's Washington Heights called Bethune Towers.
