Biography from Charleston Renaissance Gallery:
Charles Reinike, a native New Orleanian, studied at the Gradhan School of Art in New Orleans and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He was a painter and printmaker, and he exhibited locally at Delgado Museum (today the New Orleans Museum of Art) and Columbia University. In 1971, The Louisiana State Museum displayed a selection of Reinike’s watercolors of the Feliciana Parish and the Teche country from the 1930s and 1940s.

Reinike was an active member of the local art community, and he was a member of the New Orleans Art League, the Southern States Art League, the New Orleans Art Association, and the Louisiana Society of Etchers. He was founder and director of the Reinike Academy of Art until it closed in 1944. During the summer months, Reinike and his wife, Vera, ran an art colony in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
