| Charles J. Romans (1891 – 1973) Charles Romans studied art at State Teachers College, Buffalo, New York; New York University; and the National Academy of Design under Leon Kroll, George Elmer Browne and Sigurd Skou. He was a member of the Allied Artists of America, the National Society of Painters in Casein, the Painters and Sculptors Society of New Jersey, and the Professional Artists of South Jersey. The artist won numerous national awards and exhibited throughout the United States.
A longtime resident of Jersey City, he spent his retirement years in Cape May, New Jersey. His wife was the painter Ethel N. Gilmore.
